Orientation & Welcome Messages
| Over the years we have collected examples of different types of
Orientation or Welcome messages used at Penn State. These may give
you inspiration or a roadmap for your initial contacts with
students. These messages were selected because they represent a variety of methods and styles. Some are brief, others are comprehensive. Some are as detailed as a syllabus, others are more informal and interpersonal. There is no "right" way to do it, but it should reflect your voice and your goals as the instructor. They are loosely grouped by similar discipline, but that is more a strategy for information management and not a statement on "types" of letters. Feel free to peruse ones other than your own.
