Higher education is taking a serious look at electronic educational
games. Professors at PSU are beginning to publish research based
around educational games, and are looking to incorporate games into
the classroom. In response to this growing need, the Educational
Gaming Commons (EGC) at Penn State was formed. In this discussion,
Brett Bixler, head of the EGC, will outline what makes a game a
game, showcase the various types of current electronic games, list
some of the major initiatives happening in higher ed, and explain
the goals and plans of the EGC.
